VI. VIRTUAL EVENT FORMAT

A. The event will include an oral presentation done via video camera recording

Video Submission Requirements

-          Use either a youtube link, Google File Link, or an MP4 file format for video

-          Video shall be emailed to: applications-southregion@gaaged.org

-          Subject line of email shall read: FFA Creed Speaking – FFA Chapter Name – Student Name

Your student will be asked to answer these two questions with a five-minute total time limit for answers. : 1.) As an FFA member, why is the creed important to you?  and  2.)  What part of the FFA creed means the most to you and why? 

B. Members will present the Creed from the current year’s Official FFA Manual.

C. The event will be a timed activity with four minutes for presentation. After four minutes, the participant will be deducted 1 point for every second over set time.

D. Each participant shall begin the video stating their name and the chapter they are representing – no abbreviations (ie): “My name is John Doane from the Thomas County Central High School FFA Chapter”. NOT, “My name is John Doane from the TCCHS FFA Chapter”.  Each participant will recite the Creed from memory in the video. Each participant shall begin the presentation by stating, “The FFA Creed by E.M. Tiffany.” Each LDE participant should end the presentation with the statement, “... that inspiring task. Thank you.” Additional introductory or concluding remarks will result in accuracy deductions as indicated on the scorecard.

E.Judges will score each participant on the delivery of the Creed, using the score sheet provided. Please make sure we can clearly hear your students! If we cannot make out the words, it will be a deduction on accuracy. Also please make sure they are in official dress for their presentation!

F. Timekeepers will be designated to record the time used by each participant in delivering his/her speech as seen in the video. Content accuracy judges will record the number of recitation errors during delivery.

G. When participants have finished the presentation and answering questions, each judge will total the score of each speaker. The timekeepers’ and accuracy judges’ records will be used to compute each contestant’s final score. The judges’ score sheets will then be submitted to event officials to determine final rankings.

H. Participants will be ranked in numerical order on the basis of the final score to be determined by each judge without consultation. The judges’ ranking of each participant then will be added, and the winner will be that participant whose total ranking is the lowest.

 J. Area 5 and 6 Finalists will be announced January 20th, 2023. The top students from each area will advance to the Area 5 and 6 Creed LDE finals on Febuary 7th, 2023. These will be conducted in person (LIVE)!!
