The South Region Floral Design CDE will be conducted in two rounds this year.

  1. The first round will include the Identification of Floral Goods (Junior and Senior) and the General Exam (Senior Only). These events will be conducted through Q-Bank. This event will serve as a qualifier for the second round. The top 10 students in each Area will move on to compete in the second round.

  2. The second round will include the Arrangement portion of the CDE. Juniors and Seniors will both design ONE arrangement. Only the top 10 Juniors and Seniors from the first round will compete in this portion of the CDE.

Registration

  • Teachers will register for the preliminary CDE through the GAAGED Website by Wednesday, 1/27 (3 weeks from today). Due to students not being able to carry their arrangements home this year, there will not be a materials fee for the final event.

Round 1 - ID and Exam

  • The first round will take place on Wednesday, February 3rd. The event will open in Q-Bank at 9:00 AM and close at 5:00 PM. Students will complete the Identification of Floral Goods (Junior and Senior) and the General Exam (Senior Only).

  • Teachers will receive an email on Tuesday, 2/2. Included in the email will be the Q-Bank log-in information and the identification lists for the CDE. Teachers will need to print copies for each of their students prior to beginning the CDE on Wednesday. These will be the same Identification lists that can be found in the CDE Guidelines on the GAAGED website (linked below).

  • Students MUST complete each portion of the CDE on their own without the assistance of their teacher or study resources. Teachers will be responsible for ensuring that their students compete with integrity.

  • Juniors - Junior Floral Design CDE Guidelines

    • Identification of Floral Goods - Pictures of twenty-five items from the Floral Design Hard Good and Materials and/or Floral Design Fresh Product (Foliage and Flower) lists will be displayed in Q-Bank for contestants to identify. Students will use the 3-digit numbers on their Identification sheets to input their answers in Q-bank.

    • Students will have 30 minutes to complete the event.

  • Seniors - Senior Floral Design CDE Guidelines

    • Identification of Floral Goods - Pictures of twenty-five items from the Floral Design Hard Good and Materials and/or Floral Design Fresh Product (Foliage and Flower) lists will be displayed in Q-Bank for contestants to identify. • General Knowledge Exam - The general knowledge section will consist of twenty-five multiple-choice questions covering all aspects of the floral industry.

    • Students will have 1 hour to complete the event.

  • Every effort will be made to announce the top 10 junior and senior students from each Area moving on to Round 2 on Thursday, 2/4.
